Moose on the loose! Les orignaux sur les panneaux!

I have noticed a really interesting detail as I travel across the country Just about everywhere along the TC highway, there are numerous warnings about the danger of moose crossing the highway. Apparently, moose is proliferating everywhere and has become a serious hazard, especially at night.

While in Quebec, the moose on our signs nonchalantly wander at a leisurely pace, not so in Ontario. The Ontario moose are fierce – the signs show them head down charging forward at a determined and aggressive pace. In Saskatchewan, the moose are no longer charging, but they are moving forward at a trot. It’s just so funny to see the different representations of this symbol of Canada! Once in BC, the warnings no longer signal moose, but red eyed elk and mountain sheep.

J’ai remarqué un détail intéressant pendant mon voyage à travers le Canada. À peu près partout le long de la route transcanadienne, il y a de nombreux avertissements au sujet des orignaux qui traversent la route. Il semble que l’orignal se porte bien et prolifère au point de devenir un sérieux danger pour les conducteurs, surtout la nuit.

Tandis qu’au Québec, les orignaux sur nos panneaux se dandinent tranquillement tête haute, il en va autrement en Ontario. Les orignaux ontariens sont méchants – les panneaux les représentent chargeant tête baissée de façon agressive et déterminée. En Saskatchewan, les orignaux ne chargent plus les touristes, mais ils se déplacent au trot. C’est vraiment amusant de voir les différentes représentations de cet animal symbolique! Une fois en C.-B., on ne signale plus les orignaux, mais des caribous aux yeux rouges et des mouflons.
